Screening & Home Testing
If you're concerned about radon in your home but don't know where to start, a home test kit or consumer grade radon monitor is often the best starting point. While the data that these home solutions provide isn't as complete or accurate as professional testing, they can help determine if additional action is recommended. Kits and monitors are available from many local hardware stores and online retailers, but DJ's Radon Services provides a free radon screening, where in addition to providing a free test, a licensed Radon Measurement Professional will deploy the test in accordance with measurement standards and manufacturer specifications, and then make recommendations based on the results.
Official Radon Testing
When accuracy, precision, and chain of custody are critical, official radon testing is the only option. Utilizing official radon measurement standards and approved professional continuous radon monitors, our Radon Measurement Professionals will generate an official report including all of the details of the property, and hourly radon readings, which provide a more complete picture of the radon cycle in the home, not just a single number. Official tests can be requested at any time, but are most commonly utilized for real estate transactions and post-mitigation tests.
Mitigation
When you know you have a radon problem, the solution is mitigation. There are a variety of mitigation strategies implemented depending on the geography, climate, and foundation type, but most homes in this region rely on sump depressurization or active soil depressurization, utilizing plumbing and a fan specifically designed to evacuate soil gasses from under the foundation and discharge them safely away from the home.
